Privacy Policy
We are committed to providing our clients respect for their privacy. This page summarizes the privacy policy and practices of our firm.
The relationship between lawyers and their clients is governed by what is referred to as solicitor/client privilege, which extends to our support staff. That means that any information that you provide, including personal information will only be utilized by our firm to advance your matter. We do not gather personal information such as your name, address, phone number, e-mail address or other personal information unless you voluntarily supply it to us, typically through client meetings, telephone discussions or contacting us via e-mail, fax or mail. The privilege belongs to the client and not the lawyer, so while the client is free to disclose whatever information they wish to whomever they wish, a lawyer cannot without first obtaining informed consent from the client.
Any personal information you do provide is protected under the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Document Act (PIPEDA) or Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act. This means that, at the point of collection, you will be advised that your personal information is being collected, the purpose for which it is being collected, that you have a right of access to the information and the right to ensure any errors in the information we may have is corrected in a timely manner.
Website visitor information is not disclosed to anyone except our personnel who need the information, for example to respond to an inquiry from you.
Our web site contains links to various other web sites. We cannot be held responsible for the content or the privacy practices of other web sites that you choose to link to from our web site.
